HealthNet connect Selects Vidyo for Telehealth

Healthcare IT consortium leader to offer comprehensive Telehealth solution

West Des Moines, IA and Hackensack, N.J. – November 12, 2014

HealthNet connect, a wholly owned subsidiary of UnityPoint Health, announces it has selected Vidyo, Inc., Hackensack, N.J., as its telehealth partner. The arrangement will allow HealthNet connect member hospitals and clinics to connect patients via live video to primary care and specialty providers and mental health professionals anywhere in the HealthNet connect network. HealthNet connect provides secure fiber optic connections for more than 100 hospitals and physician clinic locations in Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois.

Vidyo’s technology will support the HealthNet connect mission of providing services that will enable our participants to make a difference in the lives of the communities they serve. For example, patients in rural areas connected to HealthNet connect that lack specialist care can be seen by a specialist in another community without having to travel. HealthNet connect will offer professional services and support to help health care providers set up and implement telehealth programs.

“With our own fiber optic network and data center infrastructure, HealthNet connect was built for telehealth,” said Rodney Brown, executive director, HealthNet connect|BroadNet connect. “Vidyo brings the technical capability to reliably deliver HD-quality video, operate securely over our private fiber optic network and provide efficient accessed to computers as well as mobile devices. We also wanted interoperability to assure it can work with various endpoints and applications.”

“Telehealth requires a simple, high quality, reliable user experience, and together the VidyoWorks platform over HealthNet connect’s infrastructure will deliver a game changing solution for the HealthNet connect Consortium,” added Jeff Russell, Director of Vertical Market Sales at Vidyo.
