Managed Hosting Is The Way Forward

There is still some resistance to moving IT operations to hosted environments however the reluctance is easing. As businesses, health care providers, schools and government realize they cannot do it all relative to IT operations, managed hosting or cloud services have become a viable alternative.

Managed Hosting consist of a range of data center related services. The major services are:

  • Cloud Storage
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Server and Desktop Virtualization
  • Application Virtualization

The data on how moving some IT operations to managed hosting or cloud environments can make organizations more efficient has been out there for some time. The adoption of managed hosting is an important paradigm shift in how Managed IT Services are delivered and relied upon. The efficiency generated from adopting managed hosting signals more flexibility, agility and innovation for organizations of all sizes.

IT organizations want their ITIL practices air-tight with as little risk as possible...and rightfully so. To help alleviate some of the concerns to managed hosting adoption, cloud providers should be very clear in their communication and commitments around service level agreements, data center up-time commitments, disaster recovery processes and customer service access.

With little doubt managed hosting will continue to see adoption rates grow. By creating good partnerships and establishing clear communication managed hosting providers can make this paradigm shift easier for their clients.
